The great "shithole" lamentation — liberals avoiding work

Proven correct in less than 8 hours

Last week, I wrote about the wimpy uselessness of the Anti-Trump Movement.

A few hours afterward, those same folk weepishly affirmed my critique.

Here's the "shithole" background

Reportedly:

President Trump grew frustrated with lawmakers Thursday in the Oval Office when they discussed protecting immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries as part of a bipartisan immigration deal, according to several people briefed on the meeting.

“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump said . . . .

You would think global nuclear war had begun . . .

. . . given the teary, anti-Trump lamentation that swirled afterward. Virtually all of it was directed at, "OMG, the president is a racist!"

As if we hadn't known that for the entirety of his life.

Then, there's the curious disconnect between:

(a) denying that the places that the President referenced are economically and educationally stressful places to live

(with virtually no anti-Trumpists volunteering to move there, even if invited)

and

(b) examining what imperialistic forces made those geographies so challenging to have a materially comfortable life in.

The political boomerang effect — whiners beware

Lamenting into elite Democrats' metaphorically monogrammed nose hankies isn't going to do squat to convince Trump supporters that they (and he) are wrong.

Even humanity-loving 'me' had to smile at Trump's politically incorrect phrasing. He succinctly said what many other Americans think.

Isn't that the heart of effective political communication?

So, again, who's the dumb one?

Anti-Trumpists like dramatic demonstrations of their supposedly moral outrage

But they consistently prance around ignoring their own Establishment's responsibility for the mess that has been made.

It is easier to feign moral horror at the President's unpalatable rejection of human browness, than it is to reverse the imperialistic institutions and economy that created the conditions the President crudely pointed to.

For example:

Have you seen any sustained Democratic Party effort to aid Haiti, El Salvador or Africa?

Any thoughtful critique of a capitalistic system that routinely ignores Africa's miasma of awful diseases (simply because there is no financial profit to be had)?

Have we witnessed any determined Donkey Party philosophizing about building a more justly equitable society in the United States?

Seen even so little as an intensely focused effort to assist 'brown' and Spanish-speaking Puerto Rico, also recent victim of alleged Trumpian bigotry and neglect?

Nah.

You want some truth spattered into this "shithole" nonsense?

For a running commentary, regarding Democratic Party racial illusion-making, see the quality blog, Black Agenda Report.

With regard to broader, institutional criticisms of the Donkey Dopes, see Paul Street's conveniently recent essay, here.

The moral? — From anti-Trumpists, it's wailing theater and no action

When I read what the President had said, I laughed. I knew it would fuel yet another go-nowhere, reflexively partisan shitshow.

What can the Hapless do, but delight in exquisite examples of our polity's now characteristic, ethically lazy ridiculousness?
