"Sensitive US military equipment given to local forces goes unaccounted for in Afghanistan" — who could have seen that coming?

This is satirically humorous on a couple of levels

Stars and Stripes reported that:

The Defense Department has failed to keep track of surveillance systems, controls for laser-guided bombs, night-vision devices and other equipment provided to the Afghan government, a U.S. government watchdog agency said Thursday.

The goods transferred to the Afghan government are “some of the most sensitive of all defense articles” and were supposed to be fully inventoried by the U.S. every year, to ensure they were being used for their intended purpose and were not transferred to a third party without U.S. government consent, the report by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan said.

But only 40% of the sensitive articles given to the Afghans were inventoried between May 2019 and April 2020, it said, and about 5% of items that were supposed to have been tracked since October 2016 have never been inventoried at all.

Inadequate tracking means that “sensitive technology remains susceptible to theft or loss,” . . . .

Let's think about this

The (a) eagerly money-swilling and:

de facto perpetually corrupt

US Military Industrial Complex

(b) gave and continues to give

(c) a long-proven equally venal Afghanistan culture

(d) a bunch of "sensitive" military weapons and accoutrements

and

(e) afterward

(f) outsiders to this eager flow of slime-covered lucre

(g) hope that both sides

(h) are going to account for and track anything?

This is a scandal?

Or is it merely an indication of how brain-dead US leadership does things on a routine basis?

Of course, we've been in Afghanistan for only 19 years.

Who could possibly have known and anticipated a problem of this type?

The moral? — As long as Imperial Elites continue to profit at taxpayers' expense, no cares

Instead, we Untermensch types are propagandized this way:

The Pentagon plans to address the failings identified by SIGAR, Thomas Croci, deputy assistant secretary of defense for Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia, said in a comment included in the report.

“DoD recognizes the importance of providing the greatest possible accountability for U.S.-funded equipment provided to (Afghan forces),” Croci said.

Sure Tom, I'm sure y'all will hop right on this matter with immense vigor and great success. Just like you always do.

And I'm sure that y'all will also be able to cover up whoever's American troop-kid gets blasted by — or with the aid of — one of these missing pieces of "sensitive" military equipment.

In Pretend Peace's frugal name — let no warmongering lie go unspoken.
