Duo of autocrats — Biden and Abbott

US is undergoing a competition to see which leader of government can act the most illegally

Consider the following two prongs of competing autocracy.

First —from (wannabe king) 'Dementia' Joe Biden — and his Deep State handlers:

The President’s plan will reduce the number of unvaccinated Americans by using regulatory powers and other actions to substantially increase the number of Americans covered by vaccination requirements—these requirements will become dominant in the workplace.

Requiring All Employers with 100+ Employees to Ensure their Workers are Vaccinated or Tested Weekly

Requiring Vaccinations for all Federal Workers and for Millions of Contractors that Do Business with the Federal Government

Requiring COVID-19 Vaccinations for Over 17 Million Health Care Workers at Medicare and Medicaid Participating Hospitals and Other Health Care Settings

Calling on Large Entertainment Venues to Require Proof of Vaccination or Testing for Entry

Second — from the fractiously silly governor of Texas, Greg Abbott:

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday issued another executive order cracking down on COVID-19 vaccine mandates — this time banning any entity in Texas, including private businesses, from requiring vaccinations for employees or customers.

Abbott also called on the Legislature to pass a law with the same effect, promising to rescind the executive order once that happened.

What to make of these competing power grabs?

On the Federal hand, we have a president who thinks nothing about the potential Constitutional restrictions on his actions. And one who happily ignores the fact that Government fiats based on financial extortion may eventually boomerang.

On the State hand, we have a governor who tacitly admits that his executive order is illegal (thus his direction to the Legislature to codify it) and, even then, ignores the fact that in this arena, federal action almost certainly preempts anything he does.

Not to mention the difficult position that the Governor puts Texas businesses in, by forcing those entities to choose between federal and state regimes.

The moral? — Constitution, what's that?

Increasingly useless, is the answer.
