On anniversary of Capitol Riot — congressional Democrats slobbered kisses on war criminal Dick Cheney's feet

Jesus Christ is, we can imagine, laughing hysterically (if disconsolately) somewhere

No doubt (by now) having washed His hands of America's avaricious, murdering leadership:

Democrats lining the floor of the House, waiting for their chance to greet Dick Cheney.

Cheney and his daughter, Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo. were the only two Republicans to attend a pro forma session of the House on the anniversary of last year's riot at the Capitol.

They sat together in the front row on the Republican side of the chamber as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi thanked the U.S. Capitol Police for defending them on Jan. 6 and allowing Congress to “defeat the insurrection."

Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., spoke with the Cheneys at length.

“I told him, thank you for being here, how proud I am of his daughter, and I know he is as well, for having the courage to stand up for truth," Hoyer said.

“We were appreciative of the fact he's here supporting his daughter in what is otherwise a very significant minority position in the Republican Party, which is very sad," Hoyer said.

“I was happy to welcome him back and to congratulate him on the courage of Liz Cheney," Pelosi said.

Dick Cheney . . . issued a formal statement after the House session, saying the importance of Jan. 6 as an historic event cannot be overstated.

“I am deeply disappointed at the failure of many members of my party to recognize the grave nature of the January 6 attacks and the ongoing threat to our nation.”

Kiss-kiss:

House Appropriations Chair Rosa DeLauro was one of several Democrats to pay their respect to the former vice president during a short procedural session in Congress marking the anniversary of the Capitol attack.

“I believe he cares deeply about this country,” DeLauro told BuzzFeed News.

“We have different views on issues. I think that's important that he's here. I think it speaks to the strength of the institution and the strength of our democracy.”

Reps. Lizzie Fletcher, David Cicilline, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Eric Swalwell also spoke to Dick Cheney.

“In this fight, he’s an ally,” Swalwell said later. “And this fight, for the soul of America, is the only one that matters.”

Not to be outdone, the next day:

On Thursday, Pelosi said members were honored by his presence:

“We were very honored by his being there. He has a right to be on the floor as a former member of the House. I was happy to welcome him back, and to congratulate him on the courage.”

Yes, dears — Madame Pelosi said "courage"

. . .  about that good ole fat, rich and military service-avoiding — "I had other priorities in the '60s than military service"Dickie.

Who lied and connived to cart the US into a war — in which hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis were killed — for absolutely no decent strategic reason.

That Cheney.

Unapologetically self-advancing and arguably vicious to the core.

Those traits evidently having been characteristic of him, ever since he was (again arguably) freighted into existence by the figurative Devil.

No disrespect intended.

Dick Cheney is, beyond any doubt, one of the planet's most talented, professionally capable and respect-worthy villains.

In short . . .

The Dems, led by the Queen of Duplicitous and Fawning Avarice (Pelosi), honored a guy who — in even an only very marginally righteous world — would have been sent off to terminally experience the Nuremberg Noose's justly distributed rewards.

And — of Democrats' grossly exaggerated evaluation . . .

. . . of last year's Capitol-located protest turned riot, the ever even-keeled Matt Taibbi wrote the following — exactly echoing my own evaluation of 06 January 2021, expressed the day after it happened:

No one from a country where these things actually happen could mistake 1/6 for “a coup.”

In the real version, the mob doesn’t take selfies and blaze doobies after seizing the palace, and the would-be dictator doesn’t spend 187 minutes snacking and watching Fox before tweeting “go home.”

Instead, he works the phones nonstop to rally precinct chiefs, generals, and airport officials to the cause, because a coup is a real attempt to seize power.

Britannica says the “chief prerequisite for a coup is control of all or part of the armed forces, the police, and other military elements.”

We saw none of that on January 6th, but it’s become journalistic requirement to use either “coup” or “insurrection” in describing it.

The reason it wasn’t worse is because Trump . . . . has no attention span, no interest in planning or strategy, and most importantly, no ability to maintain relationships with the type of people who do have those qualities (like Steve Bannon).

Even if he wanted to overturn “democracy itself” . . . Trump has proven over and over [that] he lacks the qualities a politician would need to make that happen.

The moral? — The biggest threat to the United States . . .

. . . is American leadership's penchant for and addiction to:

waging purposeless violence

(for its own sake)

in the pursuit of profit,

constantly lying about both,

while

further aggravating those lamentable traits

via the worship of the towering Adam Henrys

who caused all the deadly trouble in the first place.

Republican democracy does not survive upon a heap of rabidly collected, and always propagandized, skulls.

It would arguably benefit Liberty and Peace — if We the Rabble would view Reality with open eyes for a change.

Yet, basing hope upon such an awakening, probably parallels the Second Coming in the likelihood of its occurrence.
