For background (regarding Lt Colonel Scheller)
See my brief overview of the United States' botched Afghanistan withdrawal — here.
Scheller is now imprisoned
From Task & Purpose:
“Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller Jr. is currently in pre-trial confinement in the Regional Brig for Marine Corps Installations East aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune pending an Article 32 preliminary hearing,” said Capt. Sam Stephenson, a spokesman for Training and Education Command.
“The time, date, and location of the proceedings have not been determined. Lt. Col. Scheller will be afforded all due process.”
Scheller first gained notoriety on Aug. 26, when he posted a video on Facebook and Linkedin criticizing the handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. In the video, Scheller accused senior military leaders of shirking their responsibilities, and questioned some of the command decisions that were made leading up to, and during, the final moments of America’s longest war.
“All our son did is ask the questions that everybody was asking themselves, but they were too scared to speak out loud,” said Stu Scheller Sr.
“He was asking for accountability. In fact, I think he even asked for an apology that we made mistakes, but they couldn’t do that, which is mind-blowing.”
He said that his son is expected to appear before a military hearing on Thursday.
“They had a gag order on him and asked him not to speak,” the senior Scheller said. “He did, and they incarcerated him. They don’t know what to do with him.”

Motive underlying this imprisonment
Lt Colonel Scheller's — 'where's-the-accountability' — critique of the United States' Kabul airport withdrawal debacle landed squarely on the shoulders of the four star who heads Central Command — USMC General Kenneth Frank McKenzie Jr.
General McKenzie, by the way, is the same genius who decided that blasting Iranian general Qasem Soleimani would advance the cause of peace in the world.
And subsequently, a year after that grossly unlawful murder, he took it upon himself to heighten international fears — and further inflate his Command's always money-grubbing significance — by warning that the Iranians were probably plotting revenge on that American-sponsored slaughter's anniversary.
Can't let the pot simmer in a simulation of peace, you know.
General McKenzie is, we can safely conclude, an emblematic representative of the United States' brain-addled, always blood-lusting, propagandistically fearmongering leadership.
A more deserving Ass of Deserved Opprobrium would be difficult to find.
And this Deserving Ass's (culturally representative) solution to being called to being called to accountability by a metaphorical lowlife Lt Colonel?
Lock the critic up.
And further, pretend that the Truth-Speaker is mentally ill.
That last was also (and not coincidentally) a favorite Stalinesque technique.
This is what US military command does
It kills our own troops in strategically idiotic wars. As well as hundreds of thousands of innocent foreigners.
And then, it tries to evade blame and accountability by doing essentially more of the same.
The moral? — Welcome to America, where incompetence, dishonor and tyranny reign
American culture has made an art form of elevating the worst among humanity to the pinnacle of power. Happily adding insult to injury by pretending that these devils are angels.
I forecast that the rumored 'Coming Augmented Bible' will have something to say about this unholy cultural trait of ours.
We will (of course) send this Augmented Book of Truth via Parable to jail.
