JD Vance — demonically stupid, just like the rest of American government?

An initial premise
Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson recently observed that that the United States is run by 'stupid people' in all three branches of government.

Just a few days later
Vice president JD Vance demonstrated the kind of legal, moral and intellectually obtuse nitwittedness that Wilkerson had described:
Vice President J.D. Vance was almost incredulous when a reporter asked him what "legal authority" the Trump administration used to blow up an alleged drug boat off the coast of Venezuela with a drone on Tuesday.
"There are people who are bringing—literal terrorists—who are bringing deadly drugs into our country," Vance said.
Why are they "literal terrorists"? Because the administration said so.
After the drone strike, multiple cabinet officials made sure to use the phrase "narco-terrorist organization."
What is a terrorist? According to U.S. law, it's any "subnational groups" or "clandestine agents" who use "premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets."
Of course, that can describe almost any rebel group, including ones that the U.S. backs, or almost any intelligence agency, including ones in the U.S. government.
In practice, that means that a "terrorist" is whoever the executive branch decides to label one.
We need the power to kill the terrorists. Who are the terrorists? The people we need the power to kill.
This circular logic is the basis for forever war. It can justify almost anything the government wants to do to anyone . . . .
Legal authorities that were born out of the Oklahoma City bombing and matured during the long war against Al Qaeda are now being used to blow up suspicious boats in the Caribbean.
"[A] terrorist act is violence carried out by a terrorist. Conversely, if someone is killed, it is because they are a terrorist, because to be a terrorist means to be killable.
"This circularity of the definition allows the designation to justify violence against entire populations both ex-ante and ex-post," wrote journalist Jake Romm in an essay aptly titled, "Your Death Will Serve as Its Own Justification."

Notice that
Vice President Vance is also an American lawyer.
His education certainly knew better than subscribe to legal definitions that justify murder via their demonically inspired circularity.
Yet, in spite of this educational background, Vance's stated position — regarding President Trump's right to murder people in small fast boats — is (apparently):
We kill, without due process, so as to protect freedom and justice.
Only a moron . . .
. . . or a Satanically inspired malevolent — would not see the self-contradicting elements of Vance's position.
Of this, Caitlin Johnstone made the obvious points that:
Really “terrorist” just means someone the empire wants to kill or imprison, or a group whose terrorist designation might be used to justify the advancement of preexisting geostrategic agendas.
Propaganda is used to sear events like 9/11 into western consciousness as examples of terrorism which must be prevented at all cost, and then this label “terrorism” is applied to literally anyone who poses an obstacle to the agendas of the western empire.
Once it is accepted that there should be no rules restricting how the state responds to the threat of terrorism, all the state needs to do is label someone a terrorist to remove all rules which might stop them from doing whatever they want to do.
Nowhere is this more clearly illustrated right now than the ongoing genocide in Gaza which is being justified by the need to eliminate terrorists.
When power-seeking empire architects are given limitless power to fight terrorism, we suddenly find ourselves in a world full of designated terrorists.
The more despised the western empire becomes, the more “terrorists” there are going to be. Because a terrorist is anyone who takes action which inconveniences the empire.
If this keeps up, soon we will all be “terrorists”.

The moral? — More broadly speaking . . .
As an American people, cowardice enslaves us.
A culture with backbone would not have allowed these Establishment tyrants to crush the Bill of Rights in purported security's name.
Trump and Vance, as well as their predecessors in government — including Congress and the Judiciary — are indicative of culturally shared stupidity's advancement of the American Enslavement and Murder State.
Point to Wilkerson.
