More Camouflaging Silliness from the Obama Administration — We Will Be Training Moderate Syrian Militias to Be Defensive, Not Offensive Forces — and in Only 8 Weeks — Given the Obvious Stupidity of this Idea, Guess What Actually Underlies It

A never ending stream of “ass gas” from the United States

Take a gander at this gem of apparently empty-skulled thinking:

The Syrian opposition force to be recruited by the U.S. military and its coalition partners will be trained to defend territory, rather than to seize it back from the Islamic State, according to senior U.S. and allied officials, some of whom are concerned that the approach is flawed.

The Obama administration’s plan calls for U.S. Special Operations troops to recruit moderate Syrian opponents of the Islamic State from refugee communities in Jordan, Turkey and other nations. They will be flown to Saudi Arabia, trained for about eight weeks, and then sent into the small enclaves of Syria already controlled by the Free Syrian Army and other moderate opponents of the Islamic State. The first units are expected to be deployed in roughly six months.

“The plan is for them to safeguard cleared areas,” said a senior official of an Arab nation that is part of the U.S.-led coalition and who has been briefed on the training program. “They will end up being a defensive force more than an offensive force.”

The deceptive foolishness of the Administration’s announced approach to ISIS builds every day

First, it implies that ISIS is an existential threat to American security, when it clearly is not. Then it indulges obviously ineffectual means to cope with it. Now, it tosses in the moronic idea that one can train a motley crew of Syrian opportunists in 8 weeks and then position them only defensively.

I guess the Administration’s thinking is that the American public is so ignorant that it will buy the idea that a “defensively” trained Islamic force could not turn “offensive” nastiness against the United States down the road.

In light of the history of similar efforts, the Administration’s idea amounts to liquid intellectual diarrhea, geopolitically and militarily.

The moral? — Look beneath absurdity for its unspoken motives

When tactics and strategy are inherently foolish, as assessed according to their announced goals, we need to look for the actual motivations underlying them. When someone brainy says and does something apparently dumb, examine whether the lens we evaluate it through is the proper one.

Given that President Obama is anything but foolish, it is evident that the real American agenda has nothing to do with bringing peace to the world. Instead, it is about fomenting constant war — in lying ways — that the reflexively ignorant American public will probably accept.

Our economic and political elites will profit from “training” ragamuffin Syrian militias. That these militias will someday be directly or indirectly fighting our own troops does not bother anyone in power. Corporatism will continue to haul in the “bucks” from the future conflict.

Absurdity’s deception is often unconsciously indulged. People are poor at reasoning against their self-interest and in favor of the Whole. Thus, one sees intelligent people frequently sounding like fools.
