Just watchin' the dollars

 

Saudi Arabia has been killing hapless innocents in Yemen for years now. With the United States' eager assistance.

 

So — to demonstrate American values at their finest — President Trump just okayed the sale of $110 to 350 billion more in American arms to the Saudis.

 

You know, to those monarchically inclined proponents of Wahabist terrorism.

 

 

The moral? — When you want to identify genuine American values . . .

 

Just watch the flow of humongous money into our Military Industrial Complex.

 

I am sure Jesus would be ecstatic at such hypocritically camouflaged business acumen. On the other hand, we are told, Jesus also suggested that we should (or can) leave Caesar's business to Caesar.

 

We can certainly see how welcomely far that latter advice has taken us.

 

I suspect that the innocents whom we continually kill — or encourage others to kill — might think that we have taken the Caesar bit a whole bunch too far.

 

But, what the heck, it's only money. And somebody else's lives.

 

What could be wrong with that?
