Caught by election events
President Obama reportedly gave up on trying to sneak the Trans Pacific Partnership through Congress.
Regarding the 2016 U.S. election
Most of what happened during the vote was predictable, given the self-interested self-delusion displayed by both Party establishments.
Some quality essays regarding the election outcome have come from Glenn Greenwald, Thomas Frank, Robert Scheer, and Peter van Buren.
One mild comment
Many pundit-types seem to assume that the Democratic Party could have dumped Secretary Hillary Clinton for a less disliked candidate. I don't see that possibility as ever having been in the cards. Establishments tend to go with whose turn it is.
Tossing Hillary aside would have meant voluntarily disavowing the Democratic Party's Wall Street sell out.
Looking ahead — a not so mild observation
President-elect Donald Trump's blatantly autocratic and bigoted acoustics do not augur well. His Administration already shows potential for populating itself with political insiders and other malevolents.
As a result, the Second Amendment may become friend to demographic groups that it was not previously associated with.
The moral? — Notable change almost always dances with violent disorder
We will see whether President-elect Trump is skillful enough to ride the currents of fear and hatred that he harnessed to advance himself.
