Amazon Dot Com Delivery by Drone? — A Comment on Stupidity’s Inability to Think Even One Step Forward

Is everyone in Pundit-Land nuts?

There were numerous online media articles today about Jeff Bezos’ causal statement that Amazon is working on the concept of one-half hour package delivery by drones.  According to Mr. Bezos, we are all supposed to step uneventfully aside to make way for the incessant buzzing of thousands upon thousands of Amazon drones — as if the air space above our homes and byways belongs exclusively to him and his greedy, megalomaniac ilk.

Surprisingly, virtually none of the American media blurbs that I saw after the announcement mentioned the anti-social stupidity of Bezos’ idea.  The exception was James Ball, writing in The Guardian:

James Ball, Amazon to deliver by drone? Don't believe the hype, The Guardian (02 December 2013)

The moral? — If someone acts like an anti-social moron, he or she should be treated like one

For my part, if Bezos (or any other sociopath) gets the drone-saturation idea off the ground, I will be with the Second Amendment Crazies shooting them down.  We could probably count on surreptitious support from the gun industry, FedEx, UPS, and the Postal Service.  As well as from any surface-to-air arms manufacturer wishing to expand into the home defense arena.

Think of the money to be made!

Jeff Bezos starts the Privacy and Solitude War, and the rest of American industry rises up to help ordinary Americans stomp all over him.

Isn’t capitalism great?  Making piles of money from humanity’s never-ending, greed-based insanity.
