Trump's viciously directed stupidity targeted James Comey — for the only legally hopeless item — from a list of obviously better alternatives

It is entirely possible that . . .

. . . the second Donald Trump administration revels in doing the least intelligent things hoisted from decidedly better societal alternatives.

Consider emblematically . . .

. . . the Department of Justice's legally ridiculous 'seashells' indictment of former FBI director James Comey.

This peculiarly selected foolishness being put into motion, when the DoJ already had a list of dramatically better and society-benefiting anti-Comey prosecutions to choose from.

ZeroHedge . . .

. . . a frequently shrill 'conservative' rag — which often delights in exercising vacuously reasoned rage-baiting — nevertheless accurately summarized the witlessness of the Trump administration's Comey indictment:

On Tuesday, a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of North Carolina handed down a two-count indictment against the former FBI director James Comey, charging him with threatening the life of President Donald Trump and transmitting that threat across state lines.

The basis for the charges: an Instagram post from May 2025 in which Comey shared a photo captioned "Cool shell formation on my beach walk."

The shells on the sand spelled out "86 47."

Trump spent years - genuinely - defending himself from what he called a weaponized justice system[:]

The Russia investigation, the two bogus impeachments, the civil fraud trial in New York, the classified documents case, the January 6 prosecution[.]

[W]hatever one thinks of any individual charge, the cumulative weight of it was real and politically motivated in ways that even Trump's critics occasionally acknowledged.

There are documented, substantive cases to be made against Comey[:]

his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation, his unauthorized leaking of memos to the press, and his role in initiating the surveillance of a sitting president's campaign.

Those are the cases that would survive scrutiny, attract serious legal arguments, and perhaps hold up before a jury.

Instead, the administration is going to federal court over a photo of seashells.

The moral? — President Trump is incapable of framing genuine issues . . .

. . . and making insightfully persuasive, facts-based cases for them.

Instead, Trump consistently parades his psychotic toddler mentality at Morality and Common Sense's expense.

Yet despite President Trump's irrational, nation-damaging impulsivity — our fascistically oligarchical political system embraces him. Exactly as it did Trump's demented — and arguably equally criminal and self-serving — predecessor in presidential office.

Historically speaking, there is no obvious way back from such a putrid level of national deterioration.

We the People have burned our own flag.

Thus today, the world gets to witness Dead-Brain America going after one of its own. For playing with seashells on a beach.

Stupidity characterizes itself.
