2027's United States will see a major step — in turning car-driving Americans into control fodder

Background

US law mandates that all 2027 cars sold in America must surveil and (in effect) control their drivers.

In purported safety's name:

Section 24220 of the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, signed under President Biden with broad bipartisan support, requires the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to mandate passive impaired driving prevention technology in all new passenger vehicles.

The technology in question is not a breathalyzer. It is infrared cameras mounted on steering columns and A-pillars, continuously reading your eye movements, pupil size, head position, and behavioral signals to assess whether you are alert and sober enough to operate the vehicle.

If the system decides you are not, it can prevent the car from starting or, in more advanced implementations, limit operation mid-drive.

The surveillance-in-a-car framing sounds dramatic until you realize that most new vehicles from Subaru, General Motors, Ford, and several European brands already ship with driver monitoring systems built in. Subaru's EyeSight system has been tracking driver attention for years.

What the federal mandate does is make these systems non-optional, extend them to every new passenger vehicle regardless of price point, and , critically , give them the authority to refuse vehicle operation rather than merely sound an alert.

Passive sensors embedded in 100 million American vehicles, connected to manufacturer software that updates over the air, represent a surveillance capability that did not exist five years ago and that no single piece of legislation explicitly authorized.

The data architecture it creates will outlast every administration that touches it, and its secondary uses will be determined not by Congress but by automakers, insurers, and whoever eventually acquires their data assets.

That is the conversation worth having before 2027 model year cars start shipping.

Sounds acceptable — until you consider the ramifications

If you watch Roman Balmakov's thoughtfully delivered presentation on this subject — you immediately comprehend that the collected (sensor and tracking) data will turn American drivers into government-controlled ant-equivalents.

As well as into profitably marketable data. Car-derived surveillance information will be sold to Elements of the Oligarchy.

All of this being done, without those same car owners' (or the Constitution's) voluntarily granted, knowing permission.

In effect . . .

This American automobile law overtly requires a significant escalation in American Government's already fascist orientation.

The easy manner in which this repudiation of the Fourth Amendment got through Congress, merely demonstrates how Congress's grifting stooges willingly do whatever the Fat Cat Establishment tells them to do.

A not-so far-fetched example . . .

. . . of this new system in operation.

Your car's sensors and its artificial intelligence will witness the act of packing your rifle for your next scheduled (Sunday fun) militia meeting — and/or Black Panther gathering.

Your car's AI will transmit this information directly to the Obedience Enforcement authorities. Along with sensor-derived signs of your emotional state — as well as the AI-interpolated route to wherever you are going.

If the Government Surveillance Machine sees a bunch of similarly emoting folks all headed to approximately the same location — well, that's what armed Government drones are for.

Can't let the Rabble get out of hand, now can we?
